This method involves directly stacking sawn timber in the yard for air drying, reducing its moisture content to around 20% -30% under air drying conditions, and then placing it in a wood drying equipment for kiln drying. This combination of air drying and kiln drying is more economical and can increase the efficiency of the drying kiln by about 40% during production, while also reducing the loss by about 60%. However, the disadvantage is that it requires a large space for air drying of the timber.
Another drying method is low-temperature pre drying, which requires the board to be directly placed in a pre drying kiln for drying, and the kiln needs to be equipped with fans, ventilation ducts and other equipment. Low temperature pre drying kilns can be constructed using wooden components, and their internal ventilation and heating devices have smaller capacities, so the pre drying cycle is shorter compared to air drying, and the degradation loss is relatively small.
